Concealed Carry Magazine will be giving away 5 -1yr subscriptions to 5 lucky attendees. http://www.concealedcarrymag.com/  One of our own (Cory Steiner) is on the most recent issue of CCM and is also a member of LRGC.   I've been informed he will be attending. If you sign up for CCM, make sure you tell them you found out about them from TheRallyPoint.org!

TheRallyPoint details :

2  fields for shooting trap

Food and drinks will be available.
For Directions  http://www.lrgc.org/html/location.html

www.therallypoint.org events tend to be informal, and there will be plenty of time to socialize, but since the www.lrgc.org is very big, we decided to join forces with http://www.rwva.org/  to further our cause.  We will  be having a Mini-Appleseed MiniAppleseed

Training:  NRA Certified Firearms instructors will be available to instruct new shooters. If you have friends or family members that want to learn how to handle a firearm, please help further our cause and invite them to come out.  This is a family friendly event which I've even invited my own mother to!

Competitions:  Kalishnikov competition
Scoped Rifle / DMR Competition – to honor Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock.

Theme: Firearms from the Vietnam era.   If you got something interesting to bring out please let us know what you're bringing.  We will be designating a table at the 100yd-200yd tables for displaying a few pieces of history.

People from all of the most popular gun boards will be there.

p.s. I would appreciate it if people would post that they are coming so we can get an approximate number of people coming for food and event planning.   Rain or shine we will be there.   Last minute decisions are ok.

What a bummer. Sad  That's the day I'm heading to the Outer Banks for a week. Maybe next time.  I hope you all have a good time and great weather though. Cool

Guys,

I need some Vietnam era US Militaria for our theme display.  Plenty of VC stuff (my own collection), but we're a little hurtin' on the GI.

We've got plenty of firearms lined up, but more are always welcome.  Things we could use:

A Vietnam era US :

Helmet w/cover

Canteen

Field / Combat uniforms

LBE / Alice equipment

Maps / replica maps

Anything else that can be thought of.

I'll have a set of pvc or 2x4 dummies/mannequins to hang stuff on unless someone tells me they can get mannequins.  It would look awesome.

I do have an asskicking hour's worth of AFVN radio broadcasts with commercials, advertisements, and military announcements

e.g. "Maintenance of the M16 rifle in the field....."

The only thing I own that is vietnam era is the yugo sks (kinda close) and the ar-15.  I can bring both as I was probably gonna anyway.

What is all entailed in the scoped rifle / dmr competition.  I haven't heard that term before and was just curious.

The way it looks right now I should be able to make both the May 7th and June 10th shoots so I hope to see everyone there.

I'll be posting the courses of fire tomorrow, but essentially the scoped rifle/dmr (designated marksman's rifle) competition is:

4 targets, 2@100, 2@200

Targets will likely simulate a prone soldier looking at you through a scope (the famous carlos H shot).  I tried to post the target here but it's bigger than the size limit.

I haven't decided how to scale them, but I'm leaning toward the 200y shot scaling down for about 750y.

5 rounds per target from any non-supported (no bipod, no bags, no rucksack).

It's an informal competition that can be fired any time of the day if you tell the RSO you're shooting it.  He will certify the targets were shot at prescrbed distances.

We'll award First, Second, and Third prizes, and the same for the Kalashnikov competition.

Are there caliber limits?  Could I use my Keltec .223 folding carbine with scope?

No caliber limit.  If it's scoped,  and you think you can hit with it, go for it!

Scoped target sample, as a image.  The pdf is too big to post.  It's a single 8.5x11 sheet with two targets on it.

The width of the shoulders on the targets provided will be 5.5", which scales to a 363y shot at 100y, and a 726y shot at 200y.  The V is 5 points, but # of hits in the V will be the tiebreaker.  Shots on the borderline count for the higher number as long as it's the bullet that broke the line, and not just the paper tearing.

The event was presented thoroughly to the LRGC general membership this evening successfully.  There were no questions.
